Halewijn, co-founder of Jade Sea Journeys, was the first tour operator to really start Lake Turkana safaris operations by boat, and he explored every corner of Lake Turkana and the lower Omo river basin. He was a man of many disciplines, scholar, explorer, guide, anthropologist to name but a few. He created and managed the company with his wife Joyce Chianda Scheuerman. RIP
